The two family-run businesses, H. & J. Brüggen KG of Lübeck and Bauck GmbH of Rosche, are expanding their business relationship – which has existed for several years – into a strategic partnership on an equal footing. Roscher Mühle GmbH, based in Rosche (Lower Saxony), will in future be managed jointly and on an equal footing by both family-owned companies. The transaction was signed on 31 July 2026, with the deal closing on 21 September 2026, following the granting of competition law clearance.
Through the joint venture, the partners are combining their complementary expertise: Bauck brings many years’ experience in processing high-quality organic and Demeter raw materials, as well as a strong position in the gluten-free segment, whilst Brüggen complements this with an established network in the oat business, operational excellence and international market knowledge. The aim of the partnership is to strategically develop Roscher Mühle further, capitalise on growth opportunities and expand the range of organic, gluten-free and speciality products.
Sebastian Huber remains managing director of Roscher Mühle GmbH. The shareholders are also represented by Gesine Studt (on behalf of Brüggen) and Friedemann Wecker (on behalf of Bauck) as additional managing directors.
BROCK MÜLLER ZIEGENBEIN had already advised H. & J. Brüggen KG back in December 2024 when the joint venture The Oat Factory GmbH was established with frischli Milchwerke GmbH in the field of oat drink production and marketing, and is thus once again supporting the company’s strategic partnership-building in the cereals and oats sector.
H. & J. Brüggen KG is an internationally active family-run business headquartered in Lübeck, which has been processing cereals into high-quality food products for over 150 years. With sites in Germany, Poland and France, the company is one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of cereals, muesli and oat products. Bauck GmbH, based in Rosche (Lower Saxony), was founded in 1969 from the three biodynamic Bauck farms in Klein Süstedt, Stütensen and Amelinghausen, and markets organic and Demeter products such as flours, mueslis and baking mixes – many of which are gluten-free and vegan – under the ‘Bauck Mühle’ brand.
